saoimage
SAOIMAGE is a general image display program developed by Michael VanHilst at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory. SAOIMAGE runs only under X-windows therefore it can be started only if the plot device is set to /X11 (VMS) or /xw (unix). When Ximage uses SAOIMAGE it communicates via a binary imagefile. It is important to note that any region files written from saoimage will not correct for any rebinning made within XIMAGE. The XIMAGE circ and box commands do not suffer from this problem.
