Call for Proposals

The Istituto di Radioastronomia offers extraordinary observing time during the on-going semester until May 31, 2012 at the 32-m radio telescopes at Medicina and Noto.
This is motivated by the fact that the Noto telescope turns into operation after a long maintenance period and that a new K-band receiver is being mounted on the Medicina antenna.

The currently expected begin of operations is April 1 for Noto and the period between mid April and mid May for the K-band system at Medicina. As these time estimates can still be subject to unforeseeable events observing time can only be granted on a shared-risk basis.

Observing proposals can be submitted in the standard way following the instructions on the given URL.
Please note that for Medicina only proposals requesting the K-band receiver can be accepted.

Please also note that the receiver will only be usable in combination with Field System as telescope guiding programme.

Proposals for observing time should include the IRA cover form. The package for proposal preparation can be downloaded from the URL in the frame to the left. They should be sent by 1st March 2012 to the Istituto di Radioastronomia following the instructions on the given URL.

The next regular deadline is planned for April 2, 2012.

Due to the critical funding situation we are unable to guarantee full technical support beyond standard working hours.
