EUROPEAN VLBI NETWORK - SUMMER SCHOOL 2001 > > > FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT < < < 15 December 2000 The European Consortium for Very Long Baseline Interferometry is pleased to announce the Summer School 2001: 'The role of VLBI in Astrophysics, Astrometry and Geodesy' Objectives: The main objectives of the school are to: - introduce the scholars to the potential of the Very Long Baseline Interferometry technique in conjunction with other observing techniques in different bands of the electromagnetic spectrum; - emphasize the fields of investigation in which the application of the technique is recognized to be important for the astrophysics of galactic and extragalactic objects, for astrometry and geodesy. The aim of the school is to stimulate the collaboration between people from various areas of research. Lecturers and Students: The lectures will be given by experienced scientists active in teaching and research. The school is open to PhD students and post-doctoral level scientists. A limited number of grants will be made available to support the students' partecipation in the school. Lecturers and students are expected to stay for the entire duration of the school to ensure full interaction. Dates: 17 September - 29 September 2001 Location: Albergo delle Terme Castel San Pietro Terme Bologna, Italy Organizing Committee: W. Baan, Dwingeloo-Westerbork Radio Observatory R.
