How to get to the meeting venue
The symposium will take place at the "Area della Ricerca del CNR" in Bologna. You can interactively look for directions to the meeting venue using the on-line map (hotels included) or just follow the text instructions below.
Plane - Train - From city center - Car - Bus
By plane
From the airport you can:Take a taxi:
Fare to CNR (10-15 minutes drive) is around 10 EUR (~12 US$)
Fare to City Centre (20-25 minutes drive) is around 16 EUR (~19 US$)Take the the Aerobus:
Stops at Bologna City Centre and at the Central Railway Station. Tickets cost 5 EUR (one way) and can be purchased aboard.
By train
From the central station "Bologna Centrale" you can:Get a taxi:

Tickets for urban transport in Bologna cost 1 EUR. Most buses allow you to get the ticket from a self-service teller on board, but it is not guaranteed to work. We therefore recommend that you buy the ticket before taking the bus. Once on the bus, you have to stamp it using the machine you find onboard.Tickets are available at newsstands and tobacco shops that show the Bus Tickets sign (an information desk of the public transportation company - ATC, is located on the left wing of the Central Railway Station). You are entitled to travel for 60 minutes after you have stamped the ticket, (70 minutes if stamped between 20:30 and 6:30) with as many changes as you like. If you are staying for a while, you might consider buying a City Pass at the cost of 8.50 EUR. It allows to make 10 (60 minutes) travels in the urban area. It has to be stamped at the beginning of each travel. If you travel outside the municipal area, you will need to buy special tickets for outer zones.
Bus No. 87 (see timetable): use the following map to find the Bus Stop for No. 87. Cross the square in front of the station and then turn left, walk up to the traffic light. Turn right (in the direction of the City Centre), cross the road (via Indipendenza) at take the 87 direction CNR (one passage every 30 minutes, higher frequecy during rush hours, see timetable) which stops (after a 10-15 minutes journey) at the front gate of the CNR Area della Ricerca.

Walk (25 minutes):
Get out from the REAR Entrance of the Central Station (Via de' Carracci) see MAP. Cross the road. Turn left and then right following via A. Fioravanti. Turn left at the traffic light (via Gobetti). Follow via Gobetti up to the roundabout. Straight on at the roundabout entering the no-through road.
By car
From Milano or Firenze
From the A1 (Autostrada del Sole) take the Bologna Borgo Panigale exit. Follow the Tangenziale (ring road) and take Exit No. 5 Porta Lame.Turn left (toward City Center) and proceed down via Marco Polo following the white arrow sign CNR Area della Ricerca. After the second traffic light, turn LEFT at the Roundabout (via Yuri Gagarin). Pass under the railway bridge, and turn LEFT again (via Gobetti). Follow the "CNR Area della Ricerca" sign and you'll be right here!
From Verona and Austria
Follow the A22 (Autostrada del Brennero) until Modena. Then take the A1 (Autostrada del Sole) direction Bologna-Firenze. Then follow the indications given above.From Padova-Venezia
Follow the A13 and take the Bologna-Arcoveggio exit. Follow the Tangenziale (ring road) direction West, and take Exit No. 5 Porta Lame Then follow the above indications for Milano-Firenze.From Ancona-Bari
From the "Autostrada Adriatica A14" exit at "Bologna S.Lazzaro". Take the outer ring and go out at the Exit No. 5 "Uscita Lame". Then follow the above indications for Milano-Firenze.
By long distance bus
Get out of the the bus station "Autostazione". After you have bought the ticket (or the City Pass) take bus number 87 (see timetable) just out of the bus station. The bus stops at the front gate of the "CNR Area della Ricerca".Tickets for urban transport in Bologna cost 0.90 EUR. They are available at newsstands and tobacco shops that show the Bus Tickets sign.
From City-Centre
From the City-Centre you can:Take a taxi (10 minutes):
Fare to CNR is around 10 EUR (~12 US$)Take a Bus (15 minutes):
- No. 87: Either at via Marconi or via dei Mille stops. Direction CNR. Get off at the CNR Main Entrance.
- No. 11 (A, B, or
C):
- No. 11 A & 11 B: Get off at the last stop of via Barbieri (i.e. Rotonda Gobetti). Then turn right to via Gobetti. Walk for 200 metres and you are at the CNR.
- No. 11 C: Get off at Arcoveggio Chiesa. Cross the road and turn right through via Erbosa (see map). Turn left and you are at the CNR.
Bus tickets are not sold on the bus. They must be purchased at newsstands and tobacco shops that show the Bus Tickets sign, before taking the bus, and must be stamped on the bus. You are entitled to travel for 60 minutes after stamping the ticket (70 minutes if stamped between 20:30 and 6:30), with as many bus changes as you like. One bus ticket for urban transportation costs 0.90 EUR. We suggest you to buy a City Pass at the cost of 6.20 EUR. It allows one to make 8 travels (of 60 min) in the urban area. It has to be stamped on the bus at the beginning of each travel. If you travel outside the municipal area, you will need to buy special tickets for outer zones.
