THE NEW PANELS

The original panels had a manufacturing accuracy of 0.4mm rms. The new panels where requested to have a nominal manufacturing accuracy of 0.1mm. All of them (240) were measured and showed a slightly better performance, equal to 0.087mm on average. The mean weight of the panels is 13kg/m². The panels were made by COSPAL Composites Srl Ambivere (Bergamo, Italy) and the design is a result of a collaboration among COSPAL, ADS International Srl (Lecco, Italy) and the engineers of the Medicina station.
